'Idomeneo' by Mozart Taster Workshop

Aylesbury Music Centre, HP21 7ST Sunday 8th November 2-5pm

In February 2027, Aylesbury Opera will be staging a production of Mozart’s opera Idomeneo. With wonderful music and a compelling narrative, Mozart aged only 25 demonstrates early mastery of the form.

Returning from defeating the Trojans, Idomeneo, king of Crete is saved from being shipwrecked in a storm. In recognition of his being spared, Idomeneo vows to offer a sacrifice to Neptune, God of the Sea, and this

will have profound consequences for both his people and him personally.

Join us for an introductory workshop in which will explore scenes from the opera. We will rehearse the music, then set it dramatically. Led by professionals Sam Laughton (Musical Director) and Antonida Kocharova (Stage Director), the afternoon will introduce newcomers to the creative process in a friendly and supportive environment.

Venue: Aylesbury Music Centre, Walton Road, Aylesbury, HP21 7ST.

Transport: Parking available in AMC car park. AMC is 10 minutes’ walk from the railway station. Disabled access.

Tickets £10, including refreshments (children free). Sheet music provided.
